Why You Need a Prayer Room or "War Room"
When I first created my prayer room (or closet), it was actually kind of addicting. I found myself constantly wanting to go back in there, where it's peaceful, and once I was there, I was sort of too lazy and overwhelmed to leave. Spending such personal time with Jesus is so great for your Christian walk, and I highly recommend it for any Christian, whether you go to a prayer room or not.
Also, it's a great place to hide from your family. And since it's (usually) such a small area, you don't have to worry about how messy the surrounding area is because you don't necessarily have to see the mess, be distracted, and lessen your time with God.
"But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you." - Matthew 6:6 (ESV)
How to Actually Create Your Own Prayer Room
If you make it in another area of your home, just make sure that it's quiet enough that you can concentrate. It's practically impossible to truly delve into the Word if you are constantly hearing noises from the other people in the house. That is an easy way to make the time in your prayer room that should be amazing feel like an eternity because you're scared of "missing out".
Now, bring in the stuff you'll need! I recommend a Bible (of course), some Christian books if you want, a journal, pens, a light source, some sticky notes, and etc. I bring my phone with me so that I can play music, but if you tend to get distracted I would just leave it somewhere else. You'll have God so you won't be bored, trust me. You can also bring a pillow or chair if you want so that you won't be as uncomfortable as you could be with just sitting on the ground.
Then, you can get ready to decorate :) This part can be up to you - so go with whatever you want. I personally didn't go all out, and decided to just put up sticky notes with daily prayer requests and Bible verses. The sticky notes are my favorite part of my war room, especially since they're colorful and not the plain, office-y yellow.

If you want, you can rewatch the new movie, and maybe think about how you can benefit from more prayer in your life (everyone can, no matter how good you think your life is at the moment.)
Well, that's all I have for today. If anyone has anything else that they use for a prayer room, feel free to leave it in the comments below.
